File Types

There are many differnt File extensions for images but the mainly used ones are Jpeg, RAW files, png, gifs, and tiff files. TIFF and RAW files are the biggest file type as they are uncompressed and hold all the data of an image. You would use a RAW file at 12-16bit to edit your images as this gives you the most control over doing so. You would then save it as an 8 bit jpeg to send to printers this is because a jpeg is compressed and easier to send as it is a smaller file. A RAW or TIFF might be 30mb+ and a jpeg might be 1-10mb.

Saving your file for web is the easiest way to send it to someone who needs you image. This is because you can choose the dimensions you want your image to be and save it to what file type you want.
